Installing software on a Windows machine
As an administrator, you can install many programs yourself via Software Center.
- Click the search icon in the taskbar in the lower left corner.
- Search for Software Center and open Software Center.
- Use the search field to search for the program you want.
- Select the program you want to install.
- Click Install.
Licensed software
If your project is affiliated with UiO, you can install licensed software yourself via Software Center. If your project is not affiliated with UiO, we must install the software for you. This applies, for example, to:
- NVivo
- STATA
- SPSS
We have license agreements with many institutions. If your institution does not have an agreement with us for the software you want, you must yourself ensure that you have the correct license and permission to use it in TSD.
Send an email to tsd-drift@uio.no if you need software that you cannot find in Software Center.
Installing software on a Linux machine
You cannot install software on Linux machines yourself. Linux machines include more programs than Windows machines by default, such as:
- R
- Python
- VLC Media Player
Send an email to tsd-drift@uio.no if you need more software on Linux.
Python, R, and STATA packages
You can install packages for these programs yourself.
