Get started with TSD

Here you will find a description of how to get access to an existing TSD project.

Do you not have an existing TSD project and want to create a new one?

Table of Contents

Step 1: Apply for membership in the project

The first thing you need to do to get access to a TSD project is to apply for membership in the project. You can do this via TSD Selfservice.

  1. Go to TSD Selfservice.
  2. Click on Project membership under Applications.
  3. Click the Log in with ID-porten button to log in with ID-porten.
  4. Select the project code for the project you want to apply for access to from the dropdown menu.
  5. Finally, click Submit membership application. You will receive a confirmation that your application has been received and registered.
  6. Notify the project leader so they can approve your application.

Step 2: Set a password for your TSD account

Once your application to join the project has been approved by a project administrator, the next step is to set a password. You can do this via TSD Selfservice.

  1. Go to TSD Selfservice.
  2. Select Password under Your Personal Data.
  3. Click ID-porten and log in.
  4. Select a project from the list shown and click Choose project.
    • If you are part of multiple projects, it does not matter which one you choose in this step. Note that the password you set will apply to all the projects you are part of.
  5. Enter the new password in the field. The password must follow the password criteria at UiO.
  6. Click Set password.

Step 3: Set up OTP (one-time code)

After setting a password, you must set up an OTP (one-time code) which is used to log in with your user account. You can do this via TSD Selfservice.

  1. Download Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store or Play Store.
  2. Go to TSD Selfservice.
  3. Select OTP under Your Personal Data.
  4. Click ID-porten and log in to TSD Selfservice.
  5. Select a project from the list and click Choose project.
    • If you are a member of several projects, it does not matter which one you choose in this step. Note that the OTP you set will apply to all projects you are a member of.
  6. Click Get new OTP.
  7. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.

If you have already set up OTP earlier and have an entry for TSD in the app, you should delete this first. Do this by tapping the code, selecting the settings icon in the upper right corner, and tapping Remove account.

  1. Tap + and then tap Other.

  2. Scan the QR code shown in TSD Selfservice.
    • You should now have a one-time code for TSD in the app.
    • Note: the one-time code is valid for 30 seconds at a time. The countdown next to the code shows how much time is left.

  3. Enter the one-time code in the 6-digit OTP field in TSD Selfservice.
    • Note: it is important that you confirm the one-time code. If you do not, the change will not be saved and you will not be able to log in.

If the OTP has been set correctly, you should finally see the message Validation successful. If not, you must start again.

Once you have completed steps 1–3, your TSD user account is ready for use and you can log in to the TSD project.
