SNE4110 – Education for All
Course description
Course content
This course is compulsory for students registered on the Special Needs Education Programme.
The course runs together with SNE3110 – Education for All (discontinued)
Areas of study include the significance of the relationship between individual and environmental factors seen through:
- Perspectives and human rights, inclusion and the rights for persons with disabilities
- Global and Nordic perspectives on inclusive education
- The ecological system theory
- Assessment and observation based on a bio-psychosocial understanding of human functioning and development - International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)
Learning outcome
Knowledge :
The course will give you knowledge about the complexity between environmental factors and individual suppositions in human development and learning processes.
Skills:
At the end of the course you will be able to analyse the complexity of the relationship between individual and environmental factors in inclusive practices, with a special focus on education for persons with disabilities.
Competence:
You will also be able to evaluate the quality of educational practices with a special focus on the significance of contextual and cultural perspectives in implementing education for all, with a special focus on education for persons with disabilities.
Admission to the course
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

This course is also open for international exchange students at Master`s level with a relevant Bachelor`s degree or equivalent.

All teaching in special needs education are covered by the Norwegian regulations?relating to?suitability assessment in higher education.

Examination
- Individual written 4 hour examination
Examination support material
No examination support material is allowed.
Language of examination
The examination text is given in English, and you submit your response in English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
Resit an examination
Students who do not pass an exam may have a second attempt as soon as it is possible to arrange. This is called a re-sit examination. The re-sit examination is held within 3 months of the original examination.
Students who have passed their exam, but who wish to improve their grade may not participate in a re-sit examination. You may take an exam to improve your grades at the next time the course has an ordinary exam, as long as you have not already used all three attempts. The Department will provide information and guidelines about the re-sit examination.
