RSNE4340 – Applied qualitative or quantitative research

Course content

This course will introduce basic qualitative and quantitative research and requires that students present their understanding of how to apply methodology to explore a topic of their own choice.

  • Understanding how to apply qualitative and/or quantitative research method(s) to a topic of your choice?

  • Understanding how to read and be critical towards existing qualitative and/or quantitative literature?

  • Understanding the structure of a qualitative and/or quantitative research paper?

  • Discussing and presenting qualitative and/or quantitative research individually and in groups?

  • Contribute with independent and collaborative analyses and reflective viewpoints to the topic, issue, method and literature that you have chosen to explore?

  • The ability to select and consider relevant research literature for the issue you wish to explore

  • The ability to plan and conduct an independent academic work where you have chosen the topic, issue, method, and literature yourself

Admission to the course

Requires admission to the master’s programme in Research in Special Needs Education or the master’s programme in Special Needs Education.?This course is also open for international exchange students at Master's level.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

RSNE4011 and RSNE4012 or equivalent.?

RSNE4013 or equivalent.?

Teaching

The teaching is comprised of lectures and seminars. In addition, all students are offered 1 hour individual supervision.

Oral exam.

Language of examination

Scandinavian or English.

Resit an examination

Students who do not pass an exam may have a second attempt as soon as it is possible to arrange. This is called a resit examination. The re-sit examination is held within 3 months of the original examination.
