PSYM4800 – Internship in the Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity in Society
Course content
The Internship is a mandatory part of the Global-MINDS curriculum. The goal is to familiarize with the professional application of social and cultural psychology both outside of the university and/or in scientific research conducted at universities. The internship is worth 18 ECTS. Time spent in the organisation should be an equivalent of 300 hours.

Teaching
Students choose an internship organisation during the second semester. Finding an internship place is the responsibility of the student, but it is facilitated by the Global MINDS administrators and the course responsible, which provide lists of organisations that have indicated their interest in accepting students as interns.
During the internship, students are supervised by the supervisor in the organisation. Each student also has an academic supervisor. It is strongly advised to do the internship in Oslo if you also intend to complete the thesis at PSI. Typically, the primary supervisor of the thesis will also be the academic internship supervisor.

Examination
By the end of the 3rd semester (at the university the student is enrolled in), the student must submit their Internship Report to the academic internship supervisor. The Report should be based on the work completed until that point.
Report Content:
- Introduction: Give the reader a short introduction to yourself, your educational background, and your reasons for choosing the organisation. Outline when you completed the internship.
- The Organisation: Give an outline of the history, activity, context and organizational structure of the chosen organisation. Allow the reader some level of understanding of the organisation in which you spent your internship.
- The Context: Describe the immediate context of your internship, for example, the department, the service, the mission, etc.
- Activities: Outline the activities you engaged in, including identifying any differences from your Internship Plan
- Theoretical connection between activities and content of courses: Outline and discuss the theoretical connections you saw between the activities you completed and the content of the courses you covered in year 1.
- Conclusion/Summary: Complete your report with a conclusion/summary of your experience and learning during your internship.
- References: Any work cited in this report should be appropriately cited and referenced using APA format
- Report length: On average, an internship report is expected to be from 3000-4000 words. It should be no more than 5000 words.
Language of examination
The examination text is given in English, and you submit your response in English.
