Here are the suggested solutions and grading guidelines for project 3. Please note that the grading guidelines for the last problem of the project is included in the suggested solutions instead.

Project 3 is here, the home stretch! Compared to the previous projects, this is in the format of a more traditional home exam with analytical problems spanning a wider range of the course.

The deadline is set to midnight Sunday, June 1st! Please be prepared to upload a PDF with your answers. Good luck!

Here comes the suggested solutions for project 2, along the evaluation guidelines we will use for grading.

Keep in mind that Project 1 constitutes only 25% of your final grade. Therefore, NOT passing Project 1 does not necessarily mean failing the course.

Feel free to use this skeleton code (this link downloads a .zip) as a starting point for you code, or as inspiration for your own code structure.

Please be prepared to hand in:

• A pdf-file with the answers to the problems
• A file with the code(s) you have developed

By now you should all have access to Devilry, and can start handing in project 1 when you are ready. You can hand in several times, only the last version will be considered. As mentioned before, these are the required deliverables:

1. One PDF-file with your answers to the problems
2. One file (or .zip) of the codes you have developed so that it can be easily run (please include the datafile of the supernova data)

If you still don't have access to Devilry, or have some other issue after you log in, please contact Ida (study administration, i.e.moe@astro.uio.no) as soon as possible.

After kind feedback from you guys I have now created a discussion room (Discourse room) for this semester. You can use this forum to ask questions and discuss the course, the problem sets, and the projects. I will do my best to follow along and answer questions, but please feel free to join any discussions/threads if you are having similar questions or think you might have constructive input. Remember, if you have a question, the chance is high someone else is also wondering the same thing.

You should be able to access the discussion room by the hyperlink or using the URL below. The first time you access Discourse through the link, you will be asked to log in with FEIDE.
