Course content
This course offers students a comprehensive understanding of various traditions and practices in the field of computer music. It equips students with the skills to utilize computers as interactive music systems. The course will provide insight and practical skills in developing systems for MIDI, digital signal processing, synthesis models and other audio processing techniques.?
Learning outcome
You learn general principles for:?
- Designing, building, composing, and performing with various types of computer-based musical instruments.
- Knowing the field of computer music from historical, technological and musical perspectives.?
- Utilizing audio-specific graphical programming language(s) with a focus on interactive sound synthesis.

A practical semester project presented at an internal concert.?
Information about the assignments and the deadlines will be given during the teaching and in Canvas. You have to hand in the assignments within the deadlines, and you are responsible for familiarising yourself with the requirements for the compulsory activities.
All compulsory activities must be approved in order for you to sit the exam. You are responsible for keeping track of any absences, and for checking that you have everything approved.

Examination
Portfolio
Project files for a practical project accompanied by a term paper of?5 pages (around 2,300 characters per page, not including spaces) with a title and topic to be approved by the course tutor.?
You have to fulfill the requirements of the compulsory activities to sit the exam.?
Language of examination
The examination text is given in English, and you submit your response in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.?
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
