The Master's programme Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management is a two-year?full time study consisting of 120 ECTS credits.
The programme taught at the University of Oslo?has the following structure:
- Mandatory courses, 80 ECTS credits
- Optional subject at the MN faculty, 10 ECTS credits (within your specialisation)
- Master's thesis, 30 ECTC credits

This Master's programme is an interactive full-time study that requires consistent participation in both lectures and group projects throughout the semester with significant amount of group work and in-class activities. Thus in most courses, attendance of the lectures is mandatory, which means that you will need to attend at least 80 percent of all the lectures in each class in order to pass the course.
Each semester has an overriding theme where the courses reinforce each other in order to develop a better link between theory and practice and to offer an overall coherent programme:
1st semester - Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Four courses in parallel providing the foundations of entrepreneurship.? Each course is evaluated both on individual performance and on group performance. The student groups are the same for all four courses and last for the entire semester serving as an active learning arena for learning about team work and team leadership. In addition you are required to take one elective master course from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
2nd semester - New Venture Creation and Growth
Two courses and a student venture creation project organized in parallel?for the entire semester focusing on the challenges of starting and growing a new company. The courses focus on practical sales and marketing as well as managing new company growth. In the venture creation project student groups operating as founding teams are encouraged to try to develop their own start-up project in collaboration with a local incubator. The student groups must qualify to enter. Those who don’t qualify will work as an intern in an existing start-up company.
3rd semester - Corporate Entrepreneurship
Two courses and a corporate entrepreneurship project within a medium to larger local firm?organized in parallel throughout the semester. The course on Corporate Innovation Strategy and Project Management covers topics in corporate entrepreneurship both strategically and operationally. The corporate entrepreneurship project serves as an active learning arena for this course. The course on Methods and Topics in Entrepreneurship Research covers qualitative and quantitative research methods and relevant topics in entrepreneurial research.?This course serves as an introduction to academic research as well as a preparation for writing the master's thesis in the fourth semester.?
4th semester - Academic Research
You can write your master thesis on the topic you are the most passionate about. Write it alone, in groups, or in collaboration with a company. Read more about the Master thesis in Entrepreneurship, procedures and?deadlines here.
Additional summer course abroad (optional)
Students in Oslo who meet the Norwegian language requirements?are encouraged to?apply the study programme Gründerskolen. This programme gives students 25 highly relevant additional ECTS during the summer between the second and third semester, and is taught in Boston, San Francisco and Toronto.
Recognition of Master's courses from former education
