Apply for UiO:Democracy master thesis award

Are you writing or planning to write a master's thesis on a democracy-related topic? Then you can be eligible for UiO:Democracy's master thesis award of 20 000 NOK.

Every year, UiO:Democracy awards a prize to students writing about democracy in their master's thesis. The prize is awarded to students who are in the initial phase of their master's project. Anyone writing about democracy-related topics can apply for the scholarship, regardless of their academic background.

The application deadline is September 1, 2025.

Among all applicants, up to three prizes of 20,000 NOK will be awarded, depending on the number of applicants and the quality of the projects. The awarding process emphasizes the quality of the project description and the project's democratic relevance.

Previous prize winners have written about the gentrification of Gr?nland, diversity challenges in the labor movement, the Iranian protest movement, the democratic representation of children and youth, and the strategies of parliamentary parties in response to declining membership numbers.

Previous winners have also received the Dare to Know Award and met His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
