Ingo Brigandt is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Series. Brigandt is Professor of Philosophy, University of Alberta, and has held various grants and fellowships from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research, the University of Hannover, Duke University and the University of Alberta. His work combines the history and philosophy of biology with epistemology and the philosophy of mind and language by attempting to understand scientific practice and concept use (including its historical change) from an epistemological and semantic point of view.

Professor Tom Shakespeare is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Series. Shakespeare is trained in social and political sciences at Cambridge University, and has taught and researched at the Universities of Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle and East Anglia. From 2008-2013 he was a technical officer at the World Health Organisation. Professor Susan Owens is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Series. Susan Owens is Emeritus Professor of Environment and Policy at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of the British Academy. She has researched and published widely in the field of environmental governance, focusing on policy processes in modern democracies and in particular on the role of knowledge, evidence, ideas and expertise in policy formation and change.
