The parallel session at Norway Life Science 2024, hosted by dScience on Tuesday, February 13th, drew an engaged audience who actively participated by posing a number of questions to the speakers.

The main takeaway points are that artificial intelligence (AI) significantly enhances life sciences through improved diagnostics, personalised medicine, and accelerated drug discovery, while also emphasising the need for ethical considerations, data privacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The University of Oslo has long engaged with data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. With the global and local demand for data scientists surging, we are excited to launch a new EU-funded postdoctoral program that will add 36 new data science positions at our university.

The November Conference 2023 was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil November 6-8. Its theme was Research and Innovation for the Energy Transition, bringing together Norwegian and Brazilian researchers and professionals. Over a decade this conference has established itself as the most important single venue for developing joint research and innovation between the two countries.

OSLO, November 6th - Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) hosted a closed session in collaboration with dScience and the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA), bringing together participants from academia, government, politics, and business to discuss AI, regulation, and geopolitics. The discussions were according to the Chatham House rule.

On the evening of October 19th dScience hosted yet another highly successful Data Science Day. The event welcomed the data science community for an effective blend of socialisation, learning, and entertainment. The theme of this year's event was "Data Science for Good,"and it brought together experts and enthusiasts from diverse fields. Here's a quick recap of the event with images.

Nordic Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence event was a collaborative conference that brought together experts and leaders from various sectors in the Nordic countries to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on research, business, and society. - See images, video recordings and download presentations from the event. 

This crucial issue is directly addressed in the recently published Insight Paper "The Twin Transition Century." The Insight Paper was launched in Norway House in Brussels 21. September 2023, and strongly advocates increasing efforts in digital research to empower society in its pursuit towards the green transition. 

In a world where technology is rapidly reshaping our lives and environmental concerns are reaching a critical point, it has become essential to grasp the intricate relationship between the digital and green transitions to twin them and make use of their potential synergies. New Insight Paper paves the path forward.

Causality and machine learning are two fields that have both had remarkable progress through the last few decades. The progress in machine learning, or artificial intelligence as it is often also called, has been particularly visible.

The UiO Growth House, dScience ¨C Centre for Computational and Data Science, UiO:Life Science and UiO:Energy and Environment are now co-located in Oslo Science Park. ¡®Now the units can work more closely together and draw on each other's expertise as well as extract synergies from each other. On December 2-3, 2021, CompSci and dScience PhD candidates participated in their first PhD Program Seminar.

A lot has happened since dScience ¨C Centre for Computational and Data Science ¨C started in the beginning of 2021, but October has been the big start-up month.

Now that the pandemic is coming closer to an end, we are thrilled to finally be able to get together for some exciting activities! One of dScience¡¯s most important tasks is to create and run meeting places, and we are kicking it all off on October 14 in the Science Library.
